Musicologist, composer, conductor and music publisher. Born in Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1941. He served on the faculties at Middlebury College, University of Illinois and University of Colorado, Boulder. He operated the John Sheppard Music Press in Boulder and later Denver, Colorado.
